Cashel Family Genealogy Forum

William, I was wondering where in Tipperary your family came from. My ggggrandfather, when he enlisted in the army, first used the name Cashel. All of a sudden his name was changed to Cashin. He enlisted in 1798 so at this point in time there is no way I can prove one way or another what his real name was. His enlistment papers, which would have given where he was from, apparently have been lost or misplaced. My Michael Cashel/Cashin was an out-pensioner when he died. Although he had come to England to live with his daughter, Eliza,he had been collecting his pension from the Tullamore area (Offaly). There were many sub-stations of sorts for Tullamore. I have noticed that there were Cashins in Offaly, families that had most likely wandered in from Tipperary. Jan
