REASON Cash of Williamson Co., IL a middle name?

To all of the Cash researchers who have a connection to the Reason Cash & Sarah Ellen Berry family of Williamson Co., IL I found on the 1920 census that he used the name of Edward. Does any one know if his name was Reason Edward or Edward Reason. Or if Edward was used as a nickname of sorts. I found him, wife,and sons Lee, Elbert, and daughter Nila. Just wanted to verify the use of the name Edward.
