Hi William,
Sorry it took a while to get back to you...my computer was being stored while my Carpet went in for the past couple of weeks. I wish I had an answer for your question....I too am just learning the basics of what's required to establish a firm connection. I have access to alot of material at Penn State(all the rolls of the Kings of England ca. 1200+, Scotland 1451+(all financial records..but a good way to find clusters of people with a certain name), the parish registers of the churches of England...hundreds of volumes, though I am sure alot has not been published as well as a few parish registers from Scotland from Fife, Aberdeen...etc.., The Register of the Great Seal of Scotland 1300's+, as well all the early Chronicles of Scotland and Ireland....I could go on and on...they have so much including rare books from the 1700's dealing w/ Fife families. I've been through nearly every volume once searching for clues to our family. I have just taken a common sense approach to trying to find possible spots for or William(or his father) coming from England, Ireland or Scotland. I also have alot of excerpts from published material on Cash's which have been most helpful....I will try and dig them out and post them here....lots of references to areas near London and Cheshire. But, these were major seaports and people came to them from all over(Ireland and Scotland included)...especially to get to the New World during the time that William shows up here in the Americas. So, wish I had a more solid(and Knowledgable) answer for you. I think Pat Adams is alot more experienced in this area than I am...she could probably help you more than I could. Take Care, Chris
