Dear Leslie, I too, have seen the tombstone of Capt. Wm. Boggan Cash in Cash, SC. I have done a lot of research on that family and have at least one copy of the Cash-Shannon Duel in which Wm. Boggan's Cash's father killed his life-long friend after the friend slandered Mrs. Alleine Cash in court. To answer your question, I am a Cousin of WBC. There were two Cash brothers that married two Boggan sisters in Wadesboro, NC. I came from James Ingo Cash who married Fanny Boggan. His brother, Ingo Dozier Cash married Peggy Boggan. Capt. William Boggan Cash came from the Ingo Dozier Cash line. You probably know that the goodly Capt. WBC killed the sheriff of Cheraw, SC, and in turn was killed by a possee. The reason the family placed "murdered" on his tombstone was because he was not brought to trial. I teach high school and tell my students not to mess with those "dueling, murdering Cash's." Take care and let me know if I can help, or let me know if you have any material to share. William Boggan "Bo" Cash 4515 NC 181 Morganton, NC 28655
