This is the sketchy information that I have on Martha Zachary's background. Could you please post all you have? Thanks.

Greenburg Zachary (an American Indian) married Lydia Ann Ballard according to notes from Jo Ann Morgan of Hammond, Louisiana (a decendent in this line). They were originally from North Carolina and then moved to Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. They had six children: Ira, Elizabeth (b. 1817), Levisa, Martha, Margaret (b. 1842, was listed as age 38 in the 1880 census, and d. April 1896), and Rebecca. It seems that Elizabeth and Margaret were born too many years apart to be sisters. A more likely situation, according to a 1990 listing from Dorothy Casanova Shumate (also a decendent of this line) of Kennedale, Texas, was that the mother's name was Elizabeth (b. 1817 in North Carolina) and the kids' names were I. (b. 1839 in North Carolina), Clohis (b. 1841 in North Carolina), Linsey (b. 1845 in North Carolina), William (b. 1846 in Louisiana), Martha (b. 1842 in Louisiana, d. April 1896), Mary (b. 1854 in Louisiana), and Rebecca (b. 1857 in Louisiana). According to a 1990 listing from Dorothy Casanova Shumate, Martha's predecessors came from Scotland to Virginia to North Carolina to Louisiana.

Let me know which of this information fits with yours, especially about Josiah Miley (his mother, siblings, etc.)
