Casanova from Switzerland mid 1800s

I'm looking for information on the following people prior to their arrival in the USA:
Jacob C. (Newhouse) Casanova (called Jake, b. 1821 in Switzerland) married Martha Zachary (b. 1842 in Louisiana) in February 1860 (according to their marriage license application). Some of the family members took on the last name Newhouse instead of Casanova (it was more American-sounding). Jacob used both last names of Casanova and Newhouse. Jacob had arrived from Switzerland through the Port of New Orleans,Louisiana, about 1847, along with his father and sister Mary Katherine Casanova (married Joseph Rohner, called by her middle name, Katherine, April 21, 1821, to June 1, 1882, according to her headstone in the Husser Cemetery. Jacob and Martha had twelve children. The area of Switzerland that these folks came from may be Obersaxen and Andermatt.
