1. JOHN2 CASSADA (???1 CASADA) was born Bef. 1754. He married MARTHA YOUNG, daughter of ROBERT YOUNG and MARY DOUGLASS. THE ANALS OF TENNESSEE, Ramsey, 1967, Bentonville Library-p 119-120 ...(the Cherokees made a treaty)...the Indians consented (to give additional lands for other considerations)..agreed to, and ROBERT LUCAS was taken in as a partner, to enable them to advance the stipulated price. They leased their lands to job-purchasers. it was, however, afterwards ascertained that the lands thus leased lay in North Carolina and not in Virginia; and the purchasers refused to hold under them, and drove them off. The Watauga Association, holding the lands which they occupied, under a lease of eight years, as has been heretofore stated, desired to obtain for them a title in fee. They procured, two days after the purchase was made by Henderson & Co., a deed of conveyance to CHARLES ROBERTSON, for a large extent of country. it is found in the Register's office of Washington County. "Land Records of the Wataugah Purchase. "This Indenture, made the 19th day of march, 1775, by O-con-os-to-ta, Chief Warrior and First Representative of the Cherokee nation or Tribe of Indians, and Attacullectlly and Savanucah, otherwi8se Coronoh, for themselves and the rest of the whole Nation, being the aborigines and sole owners by occupancey from the beginning of time, of the lands on THE WATERS OF HOLSTON AND WATAUGAH RIVERS, and other lands thereunto belonging, of the one part, and CHARLES ROBERTSON, of the settlement of Wataugah, of the other part, Witnesseth, &c." The consideration was "the sum of two thousand pounds, lawful money of Great Britain, in hand paid." The deed embraced "all that tract, territory or parcel of land, on the waters of Wataugah, Holston and Great Canaway or New River: beginning on the south or south-west side of Holston River; six English miles above LONG ISLAND, in said river; thence a direct line near a south course to the ridge which divides the waters of Wataugah from the waters of nonachuckeh; thence along the various courses of said ridge, nearly a south-east course to the Blue Ridge or line dividing North Carolina from the Cherokee lands; thence along the various courses to the Virginia line; thence west to along the Virginia line to Holston River; thence down the meanders of Holston River to the first station, including all the waters of Wataugah, part of the waters of Holston and the head branches of New River or Great Canaway, agreeable to the bounds aforesaid to said CHARLES ROBERTSON, his heirs and assigns." & c. "and also, the said CHARLES ROBERTSON, his heirs and assigns, shall and may peaceably and quietly, have hold, possess and enjoy said premises without let, trouble, hindrance or molestation, interruption and denial of them, the Oconostota and the rest, or any of the said Nation.: Signed in the presence of JOHN SEVIER, WM. The first patentee was JOSHUA HAUGHTON. ...seventh day of May, 1775. other patentees: JOHN CASSADA...The land has been platted. John Cassada's plat adjoined Robert Young's plat. WILLIAM CASADA was a squatter on land that was included in the Watauga Purchase. He did not purchase land. ---- "History of Greene County, Tennessee and It's People" 1783-1992 ADAM CASEDAY/CASADY-page 56 Adam Caseday, born 11 May, 1804, died 26 Sept., 1889, the son of Robert Casady and Elizabeth Rader. Robert Caseday was born about 1774 in Washington County, North Carolina (now Tennessee) to John Caseday and Martha Young. Adam Caseday was married to Anna Hise, 14 Jan 1823 in Greene County, Tennessee. Anna Hise was born 23 Oct 1805 and died 25 Sep 1880. They were farmers. Anna's parents were James Hise and Catrine Dotson. Ten children were born to Adam and Anna Caseday. The oldest was James H. (Caseday) born 18 Feb 1824 and died in the Civil War. Others were: Elizabeth (Caseday), 4 June 1826; Cathrine (Caseday), 7 Nov 1828; Eliza Jane (Caseday) , 29 June, 1830-1845; William A. (Caseday), 15 Dec 1832-1902; George Washington (Caseday), 12 Oct 1834-20 Mar 1911; Margret A. (Caseday), 15 Mar 1838-Oct, 1877; Marier C. (Caseday), 20 Oct 1841; Martha Ann (Caseday, 14 Feb 1844; Robert G. (Caseday), 22 Apr 1848-30 Jun 1924. George W. Caseday was in the 8th TN. Cavalry in the Civil War. He married Rebecca Mahoney 9 June, 1854. Rebecca lived 1832-1891. Her parents were Jonah Mahoney and Cynthia Irwin. John Cassada, Adam's grandfather obtained a patent from Charles Robertson for land in the Watauga Purchase in 1775. Robert Cassaday, Adam's father lived all of his life in Washington County, TN. Adam and Anna's family lived in Greene County until about 1855, when the parents and some of their children moved to Dade County, Georgia. They remained in Georgia until after the Civil War, when they emigrated to Oregon by wagon train. Adam Caseday bought a farm in the Williamette Valley in 1869. George W. Caseday and family remained in Greene County until 1873. Eliza Jane Casedaay and her brother, Caric Caseday, with their parents, emigrated by train to San Francisco. They then took a steamship to Portland, Oregon. George W. Caseday returned to Greene County, TN after his wife Rebecca died. He was married the second time to Ann J___. George W. Caseday died 20 Mar 1911 and is buried in the Chuckey Cemetery. ---- WATAUGA PURCHASE John (Cassada)Caseday (Cassedy on the plat) of Washington Co, TN, was the John receiving a patent from Charles Robertson about 1775. He is about the same age of Abraham Casada of Wayne Co, KY. Abraham married Rhoda Hall. ---- John Casaday & Martha Young Casaday had only three known children, 1. Robert b 1773, d aft 11 Jun 1851; 2 James Cashady b 1775. 3. Margaret who married JOHN PARKER in Washington Co., TN on 6 Oct 1794. Robert & James Cassada are listed in the Washington Co, TN 1819 tax list. Robert and John Cassedy sold 90 acres to John Lyle in Washington Co, TN (deed book 32 pp 414-415, dated 11 June 1851. Adam Caseday and son George W.
