Sorry I have no children documented for George Barnwell Carey and Winnifred Garner. I was hoping to find someone that has been able to find proof of their children. Both Newton & John Cary/Carey are also listed on the 1840 MO, Gasconade Co. I did find the burial records of your John & Jane Carey in Osage Co, MO....several of their children are also buried there. LINN PUBLIC CEMETERY, OSAGE CO., MISSOURI LINN PUBLIC CEMETERY, OSAGE CO., MO Copied 1975 by Mrs. Brandt list owned and submitted by Mary E. Stigler typed by Joanne Scobee Morgan William N. Carey Aug 1, 1833 Nov. 1857 Jane Carey 1817 April 18, 1874 John Carey June 1, 1815 Aug 17, 1885 Henry S. Carey May 11, 1852 Aug 3, 1888 Maybe John's death record will give you some clues??? I have not been able to document Newton's exact date of death but I did find mention in an old County book of his Probate being settled in Osage , MO.......to date I have not been able to find the document to support it. Newton's wife & children were in Kansas at the time. You will notice on the 1850 MO, Osage county census there is a 'g to c' added to his occupation Farmer. This was added to several of the men in this Crawford twp.....it means 'gone to california'. Until recently descendants thought he went to California and must have died there. BUT.....I find him listed on a early Kansas voters registration so we now know he did return. Newton Carey's daughter, Charlotte Catherine Carey, md first William Hallmark/Hollmark and then married my ancester, Madison Franklin Joiner. Sorry I couldnt be of more help Marsha Notify Administrator about this message?
