Col. Isaac and Cary of Sussex County NJ ~1750

I have found much discrepancy between the dates of the birth and life of the Isaac Carys (Sr, Jr, (also esq.)) of the North Church Carys of Sussex County, Hardyston, in New Jersey. I am a descendent of the Beardlsee family which lived at the North Church with the Carys at this time and intermarried. I know that the Book called "Hardyston Memorial" states that Isaac Cary Sr. was called a Col. and that his son Isaac Jr. was born at the North Church in 1742. Many of the online records that I find state that the first Isaac was born in 1742 and his son was born in 1762. Does anyone have any more info on this? It would be especially interesting also if anyone has information on the marraige of Col. Charles Beardsley into the Cary family. It is stated in Hardyston memorial also that he supposovly married Col. Issac Cary's daughter but I have not found any hard evidence. Thanks for any help you may have!
