Searching for John Cary - Carey of Fayette Co. Ky. 1805-39

Does anyone know who was John Cary - Carey/Kerry was? He appears in Fayette County, Kentucky records from 1805-42. He apparently died by 1839 and his estate was distributed among over 30 heirs of Captain Matthew McClure of Mecklenburg County, N.C. How were they related? Where did John Cary come from?
