Hi Matthew,

In this message to Grady Loy, you asked, "Do you have an approximate year of birth for Mary Carver who married John Miller 9 June 1831 in Montgomery County, Indiana?" I emailed Grady yesterday with the following information:

I believe that Mary (Polly) Carver was another sister to these brothers. She was born 25 Dec 1811 in Kentucky, married John Miller in Montgomery Co., IN 9 June 1831 and died between 1858 and 1860 in Hickory Co., MO. The following children show up in the 1850 and 1860 census. Milly A., born in Indiana 1837, Margaret E., born Indiana in 1838, Sarah Ann Miller (my ggrandmother) born in Charlestown, Clark Co., Indiana 23 Aug 1841. Removed to Hickory Co., MO about 1846 and had Mary C. that year in MO. Clarissa Malalah was born 23 May 1848 in MO, Maria L., born 1850 in MO, Missouri A., born 1853 in MO, John W., born 1855 in MO and Pleasant R., born 1858 in MO. Mary died shortly after Pleasant was born as in 1860 census, she is not listed and John has either married or taken in the young probably widow and children from next door. This family was listed next door in the 1850 census.

Ishmael Carver and family are 2 houses down in the 1850 Hickory Co., MO census and in the 1840 Vigo Co., IN census where Ishmael Carver was is also where John Miller is living. Stats on the children in the 1840 census is a little off and shows a girl 10-15 (pre marriage date) and 2 girls 5-10 when Milly and Margaret should have been under 5. The census taker may have been off by a slot and there was another older girl probably 5-10 who either died before the 1850 census or could have been married by then if born 1832 or 33.

Anyway, just wanted to get this out there. I have not been as active in my genealogy hunting of late, but both the Carvers, but this John Miller have been frustrating me for years!

Happy Hunting,
Sherrill
