My wife's grandfather, Curtiss Evans, left a sheet with the following information:
WILLIAM CARVER: born in VA in 1760. Died April 19, 1937 aged 77 years. His wife, Mary Duncan, born in 1768 died in 1817 aged 49 years. Parents of 9 children of whom ELIJAH CARVER is 5th. Originally an old time Whig; then a Republican. Both connected with the Methodist Church.
ELIJAH CARVER: born in Madison Co. Kentucky, December 11, 1805. When 21 years of age he engaged as overseer of a large plantation; farmed in Missouri for two years. IN 1832 he came to Illinois and located in Walnut Grove, Cass County. Two years later he moved to home in Quebec Neighborhood where he lived for 48 years until his death, January 15, 1828 (note: obvious date error). Married SOPHIA HAFF who was born November 30, 1811. Died February 4, 1866, leaving 4 children.
HARRISON CARVER, the 2nd child (my grandfather) was born in Cass Co. Married Frances Wyatt. Parents of Three children:
ALICE SOPHIA, born Jan. 8, 1855
LOUISE, married Robert Joshua Evans
IRA, married Mary McLaughlin
LOUISE and ROBERT JOSHUA EVANS had 8 children:
Maud
James Clyde
Theodore
Lula
Otto
Robert
Curtiss
Valette
I don't know the source of this information other than my wife's grandfather noted on the sheet that the information had been provided by his cousin Mayme Wyatt Jacobs.
Ray and/or Freda, please post more info about these Carvers or send it to me. The above is all I have. Do you have info about William's parents? Do you have info about Sophia Haff and her family. Thanks for whatever you can provide.
