Hi: To my knowledge, no one knows where William Carver is buried. I would suspect Choctaw Co. I notice in my notes that William Martin Carver nameed one of his daughters Mertie (I have Cordelia) I wonder if this should be Cornelia instead. Also, I wonder if she could be named for the Cornelia Carver that married the William Shewmake and that that Cornelia might be a sister of William Carver who died between 1852 and 1854? What do you think? I haven't worked on the Carvers for some time but I have two books on Person Co. NC, one on marriages and one on land records. I understand that other people who have been researching out William Carver, they feel that his father may be a Robert Carver and a wife named Prudence. In this book of marriage records that I have, there is a Robert Carver who marries a Prudence Hamlen (bondsman were George Hall and Jessie Dickins) on Feb. 16, 1796. In this same book, there is a William Carver who marries a Elizabeth Fuller on Aug. 1, 1819, (bondsman were Joseph Gill and Jesse Dickins). There is also a William Carver who marries a Clary Hamblin on Nov. 7, 1825 (bondsman are Nathaniel Hamblim and Allen T. Fitts.) Most of family that I know who have done research our branch of the family say that our Carvers are from Person Co. NC. These are just some ideas to think about. But, Person Co. is full of Carvers!! I think the records in Person Co. are supposed to be complete, there have been no fires, etc.I also have a book on Old Tuscaloosa Land Office Records and Military Warrants 1821-1855 and there is a William Carver listed in there as getting land on Jan. 26, 1833. Also, there is a Robert Carver listed who got land on Aug. 19, 1839. The Carvers probably moved to MS from Pickens Co. AL. Pickens Co. was once part of Tuscaloosa CO.

Now back to our William Carver: Compare this to your notes; Wiliam Carver, b. about 1800-1810, wife unknown, children: Mattie, b. 1832, James G., b. 1834, AL, George W. b. 1837, AL, William M. b. 1839, MS, Laura b. 1842, MS, Marion b. 1844, MS.

William M. Carver m. 2nd. Agnes Shumake, children: Jesse A. Carver and Lydia Carver.

If we could get several people really working on the Carvers, we might be able to solve the puzzle. Be in touch later. Charlotte.
