Thanks for the info -
The Jesse Shumake in the 1850 census is the right age to be Mary Agnes father -if so that would mean she named her son after her father which is common. I believe there must be a connection between William Shewmake and Mary Agnes with them both marrying into the Carver family.

Do you know where WIlliam is buried?
I will get you Jesse Andrew's family in the next couple of days. He had 10 children -only 1 girl - Several died as children or young adults.
