My mother is Mamie Lee Kate Carver Rogers who is the daughter of Wilbur Donald Carver of Spartanburg County, SC.

Just starting research on my Carver roots. Anything on the first Carver to Spartanburg County, SC? I remember my grandfather telling me when I was a child that his ancestors brought a large grinding stone across the Atlantic and, with it, started a grist mill near my grandfather's homestead.

Also, as a child, his parents separated. My great-grandmother went to Florida to live with family, and my great-grandfather took my grandfather and his sister to Rockwall, Texas, but eventually returned to Spartanburg County. I don't know it they stayed with relatives or what. This would have been around the turn of the century.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
