We have Carvalho's in our family from Sao Miguel, Azores. My great grandfather, Manuel, is said to have come from the mainland. I have come accross references to this prime minister? in the past. There was a great earthquake in Lisbon at one time and he was in power then. I have no idea if we are related or not. Look for "Pomball." This has some connection.
