I Don't have much on the Pettillo line. Robert 1753 is 1st cousin to my Robert 1750 of Williamson Co,TN, My Robert held lands in Bedford and Maury Co. We are connected to Columbia, Columbia is where Robert 1753-1826 died , my ancestor Thomas J- grandson of Robert 1750 was married in Columbia, and it where the Klan was born,and the meetings took place.
I have one claim that John Pettillo Sr was Elizabeth's father ,this also shows to be correct in naming order of the sons of Robert & Liz. Robert and Eliz. were married in Lincoln Co,NC. in 1782. The James in Maury I have suspected is Elizbeth's brother .
Robert & Eliz. didn't leave NC until 1800, Robert already had Cousins living on the trail to Maury. Robert is one of three 1st cousins named Robert, my Robert was the 1st into TN in 1790, followed by Robert 1742 into Sumner Co in 1789, and then Robert 1753.
Other then marriage to Liz Pettillo we have not found any other contact between Carothers and Pettillo .
