Hi Tom,
I've just spent over an hour writing about my brick wall of two Thomas Carutherses in Sumner Co., TN, in 1850, about ten years apart in age and each living next to a (son?) of similar name, i.e., Osburn 40 next to Thomas age 60 in Dist. 17, and Osman 38, son of Thomas 72 in Dist. 12(only to lose it all). Thomas 72 had wife Sally who is probably Sally Holland. The other Thomas 60 with wife Elizabeth 64 and son Osburn 40 lived next to Margaret Caruthers 40 and George Baskerville 45. I feel that these two Thomases must have been cousins, and that Thomas and Elizabeth were probably Margaret Caruthers' parents, and Osburn 40 her brother. One of the Hughs must have been Margaret's ancestor, but if so, I've never been able to find it.
