I'm researching John Carruthers (born 1817 in Scotland, died Massillon Ohio,Stark County Ohio 11/18/1869). Wife Sarah Gillispie. John, John Jr. and possibly another son were conscripted into the Union Army, probably around 1864. John Jr. served with the 25 Ohio Volunteers. Supposedly came from Dumpfries Scotland to Pennsylvania, date unknown.

Children living at home in the 1870 cenus were Sarah, 20, Alexander, 18, Duncan, 14, Rebecca, 11, Samuel, 9. John Jr. 23, was married to Barbara from Barvaria in 1/1870.

Would be interested in anyone having a connection to this family.
