Cauthers from Ireland to Montreal

I am trying to trace Samuel Cauthers b Ireland about 1802, married in a Presbyterian church in Montreal 1824, married Jane Bave, named his children John, Samuel, Jane and Loretta (I think). All three other Cauthers lines in the US and Canada (only three dozen people with that surname) tell me their people, from both Scotland and Ireland, were once called Caruthers or Carruthers; they took out the r. And one line called themselves Cuthers at one time. The other Cauthers from Ireland came from Enniskillen - an Andrew, and a Thomas with sons Thomas and Matthew and possibly others.
