John Carty was my 4th great grandfather. The first mention of him is in North Carolina. In 1807 I found a land grant in Green River, Cumberland County, KY and the next census record was in 1810, also in Cumberland County, KY. I am looking for his wife and also where he was before North Carolina. It seems like I read somewhere that some of the New England Cartys moved south to North Carolina. I have never been able to get beyond Surry County. Any clues will be greatly appreciated.
