Gooseberry, Cateau, Desgroseilliers
Bev, just had to let you know that I have found some of my Gooseberry relatives in Michigan. Dora Gooseberry sister to my grandfather Daniel children of Joseph Gooseberry/Desgroseilliers and Mariah Wilson of Clinton Co., New York.
Joseph is the son of John/Joseph Gooseberry/Desgroseilliers and Emilie/Emma Andres/Andrews. Anyway I have found some of Dora's decendants here in Michigan about 1 to 2 hours away from me and they have been wondering about their Gooseberry side. Hopefully we will be able to set up a time to meet sometime soon. They have some pictures of the family that I hope to get. Doras, daughter Clara Mary's son Allen's wife is still alive and she remembers Dora talking about the name Prosper(t) as being a family name. Now if I can just find a list of children for Joseph Desgroseilliers married Catherine Bisaillon to see if my John/ Joseph is their son, I would probably holler loud enough for everyone on this forum to hear. I just shows that dilligence pays off so we should never get discouraged. I found them quite by accident as I was working on my Howard side and a Howard relative lives in the same county as my Gooseberry relatives and found a copy of an obit and I sent letters to the daughters of my Allen B. Brown and thats how easy it was (only been looking for over a year. Sorry about my rambling but I do tend to get excited. Again I would like to thank you for all your help. I did find that these are all dit names for Desgroseilliers,Desgroseillers, Desgroseilles, DesGroseilliers; Bouchard, Chouart, Dorval, Rocherchouere, Rochouard, Rochouere, Chouard, Chouart, Jalot and I even found it listed as Chochouart. Keep up the good work. Thanks Jackie
