I have recently seen several references (including the FamilySearch and ancestry.com sites) to Mary Cartmell as the wife of Paul John Froman Jr. Can anyone cite for me evidence supporting this conclusion?
As a McCarty researcher who believes that Mary McCarty, not Cartmell, was Paul John Froman's wife, I find it particularly curious that the birthdate cited at the above-mentioned websites as belonging to Mary Cartmell is 10 December 1738. This just happens to be the birthdate of Mary McCarty as documented through the Darby McCarty family Bible. Does anyone have tangible documentation that this same date is also the birthdate of Mary Cartmell?
It is also noteworthy that Paul John Froman, Jr. co-owned property with Mary McCarty's brother, Jonathan McCarty in the Plum Run area on Froman's Creek, Nelson County, KY.
To further support the Mary McCarty/Paul John Froman marriage theory, it should be noted that one of Mary McCarty's brothers was named Isaac Froman McCarty, which indicates to me an earlier association between these families as well.
Perhaps by pooling all our information and sources we can straighten this puzzle out together.
P.S. To Glenda Decker: Have you figured out yet why there is a Jonathan McCarty Anderson in your family? :)
