Gary - My gggrandfather was Richard Carthew bd. 1792 from Whitstone & Stratton parishes. They came over to the US about 1837 and lived in Chicago, Illinois. In fact, he was one of the first constables there. I can give you the info I have - it would be fun to correlate all. Richard's Father was John Carthew or Corthew bd. 1766 (I think from Devon) I can't seem to go back any farther.
