Carters/Jeters/Overstreets in Bedford/Goochland, Virginia

I am looking for a possible link between the Carter Family and the Overstreets.

In a previous posting of mine, I detailed out how I was able to verify that the first wife of Sovereign Jeter of Bedford County, VA, Matilda Vaughan, married in 1806 in Amelia County, was the sister of the wife of John Carter (1775 - 1852) of Amelia (her first name is still not known). Upon the death of Matilda, Sovereign Jeter then remarried in Bedford (where he had been residing with Matilda, on the lands once belonging to his father, Henry Jeter) to a Nancy Overstreet on Nov. 18, 1834. I am still looking for her parents/family. Matilda Jeter was mentioned in the will of Phoebe Hatchett in Lunenburg in 1819; her maiden name was Carter and she first married Presley Jeter in 1783 in Amelia, the uncle of Sovereign Jeter. I believe John Carter of Amelia to be the John Carter she names as her brother in her will. I do not know the parents of Phoebe or John.

Further to the Bedford connection, Charles A. Overstreet married Phoebe Ann Carter on Feb. 9, 1854. Charles is the grandson of John Eubank Overstreet and Nancy Jeter. Nancy is the sister of Sovereign Jeter. Phoebe Carter (the name Phoebe not being that common among Carters of that time) seems to allude to Phoebe Carter Jeter Hatchett, but this is not yet proven. Phoebe Ann Carter was the daughter of Littleberry Carter and Nancy Stinnett, granddaughter of Fleming Carter of Cumberland County, and great-granddaughter of John Carter and Mary Fleming of Cumberland. (There has been a school of thought that this John Carter of Cumberland was the son of Thomas Carter of Goochland, c.1680 - 1738, but this may not be the case.)

In Goochland County, there is a marriage between a William Carter and a Sarah Overstreet on Dec. 25, 1773. I am still researching Sarah's lineage. In the will of Mary Carter (nee Fleming), it mentiones her sons Fleming and William. Perhaps this is the same William?

What I write now is purely speculative: I have been tied through DNA testing to a descendant of James Madison Carter, born c.1820. This descendant has linked him to James M. Carter of Chesterfield and hence, Charles Carter, born c.1757 in Essex County, VA. However, Littleberry Carter, the father of Phoebe Ann Carter who married Charles A. Overstreet (mentioned above), also had a son named James Madison Carter, born c.1820. Is THIS actually the right JMC for this person to link to? I don't know. (I do know that neither of us have a DNA connection to Thomas Carter of Goochland, which propts my earlier speculation that maybe the John Carter of Cumberland County who married Mary Fleming is not his son, as some have thought.)

Any information that might show that these Carter are all indeed connected (or not) would be appreciated.
