Hello Sabrina, my name is Robert Carter and I was born in Portland, Maine and most of my family is still in Maine. I live in Virginia now but visit Maine frequently. I also have a family tree book and I traced your lineage back in my book and found a connection.
My lineage is as follows: Father Leslie William Jr., Grandfather Leslie William, great grandfather Robert J.C. Carter, great, great grandfather Robert Carter, and great, great, great grandfather Robert from Scotland.
I believe my great, great grandfather Robert, born in 1830 is the older brother of your great, great, great grandfather James, born in 1823. According to my family tree book, “Kirkcudbright to Kouchibouguac”, your father’s name is Donald.
My grandfather Leslie was in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in WWI and later settled in Maine. I don’t really know anything about my Canadian relatives because my parents got divorced when I was 5 and I don’t know when the last time is that they may have gone to Canada. I am sure my grandparents went there when I was little or before I was born. I am the 5th of 6 children.
I see your posts say you have family in North Carolina and Florida, so perhaps you have a different family tree book than I do. I am looking forward to your reply.
