HI Karen, MY FRIEND... I am complexed because my husband's grandfather was Houston Carter, son of Jesse.... The ONLY other Houston Carter I found in TN was a black man. Our Houston was in Rutherford Co and Readyville. I must get my external hard drive goign again so i can retreave the information on the family. I can be emailed at spindletop@gmail.com.
Our Houston traveled to TX with his 3 brothers. The other two Carter boys had died while yet young boys. (5 total) There is a plaque in a funeral home in Murfreesboro, TN about them. Of the 4 Carter men in TX, one chose to return to TN. The other 3 stayed and started families. 2 of the 3 stayed in TX... the 3rd (Houston) moved on to OKlahoma with his young family. There are desendants of the 2 Carter (Thomas & William) men in the Mt. Calm and Austin area of TX.
