Centenary Cook Book (The first 12 pages of the book are gone so I can't tell you where it is from or when but the advertisers are from Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, which was founded in 1835, thus the book is likely to be 1935) Brown Bread For Sandwiches Mix one half cup sorghum with one cup buttermilk, add 1 beaten egg and one-half teaspoon salt. Sift into this one cup white flour and one scant teaspoon soda. Add one tablespoon melted fat and one cup graham flour. Beat well and bake in moderate oven in a square sheet or in large, well greased baking powder cans. Ethel Carter Reed, Waterloo, Iowa (Posted as a courtesy, not related.)
