Ruth has convinced me of the soundness of your arguments!
Thank you all for your work and inputs .... I too, sing the praises of Joe Carter. I subscribe to the US Census on Ancestry, but can not justify the more expansive International Collection.Could we collectively work on my set of questions embedded in my opening remarks?I welcome your input and review of my complete set of notes on our DFT in Public - click on Thomas of Lancaster (my wife's well-proven ancestor):

Just the "opening salvo" for here and now:
Preface: Although Dr. Miller was correctly pointing to Kempston (sometimes Kimpson)in his analysis, we
must reserve the harshest criticism to date for his short-sightedness, for Ancell Carter, Grocer of London,
did not have six sons, did not have a son named Thomas. How much time and effort has been wasted!
"Age: 69y 11m 26d in Barford, on the Corotoman" is ... not ... our Thomas. The Prayer Book
only says "about 70 years".Separately, our Thomas arrived in Virginia no earlier than 1653, and
probably no later than 1657.(We need to account for the New Year conversion and must sort
out the Thomas Carters of Isle of Wight, Virginia, who left greater Lancaster by 1660).[Dr. Hayes]
To focus our efforts, our Thomas was of a "London merchant of good family".Turns out Uncle Ancell, Grocer and Citizen of London, and his sons George and John, were on Fleet Street itself.St. Dunstan in-the-West is there to this day.It houses the Cordwiners Guild - Shoemakers in plain English - where the father William 1606 was a Glover back in Bedfordshire.John's will of 1687 London mentions Fleet Street and tells us our Carterwere actually Spice Traders:"besides her stocke in the East India Company" and "And also the East India Store".It should be noted Grocers were of high esteem - they were second in the Line of Procession. In brief, our Carter of England were both Grocers and Tanners!
Did our orphaned Thomas join his Uncle in London - who was there in 1653?
Did our Thomas Apprentice in London?Witness his son Thomas Jr. in service to King Carter.
Did he marry his first wife Catherine in Bedfordshire, in London, or in Lancaster?
Just when did he arrive in Lancaster? (It had to be between 1653 and 1657).
Was it Mr. Thomas Carter, Planter, in 1653, upon arrival at the age of twenty-one?
Many thanks to Joe Carter, Joyce Parkey, Mr. Aheinly and Ruth Sehen
for their extended effort on documents, rather than the contaminated books:

Therefore, "Ancell 6 sonn" and "Thomas 1 sonn" in the London Visitation denotes Uncle Thomas was
the first son of William of Kempston [Kimpson] and Mary Ancille, while Cousin Ancell was the sixth son.
Contrast and compare data from both sides of The Pond, beginning with the unique "Barford" connection:
"With this Book pr Rv Mr John Shepperd on Wednsday ye 4h Day of May 1670
- was Mard Mr Thomas Carter of Barford in ye County of Lancaster in Virga &
Katherine Dale ye eldest Daughr of Mr Edw: Dale ye same County".
