I know the claim has been posted in books and all over the Internet but it is wrong.
Thomas Carter of Isle of Wight County, Virginia was NOT a descendant of John Carter (1630) "Vintner of London" & Miss Benion. Some have Thomas as a son and some have Thomas as a grandson but both are incorrect.
We have Y-DNA triangulation to Thomas Carter, Jr. (married to Magdalen Moore) and that line is R1b-04 in the Family Tree DNA Carter Surname Project.
We have Y-DNA triangulation to Robert "King" Carter and that line is R1b-32 in the Family Tree DNA Carter Surname Project.
