I have been trying to piece together the history of my husband's ancestor, Rebecca Fryer, and saw several of your postings on this message boards. You had a lot of information that I was unaware of - but I think a have another twist to add to the story.
Rebecca Fryer's first marriage was to Job Fancher in 1802 in Sevier Co., TN.They had several children but all died young except for a son, Benjamin Fancher, who was born in 1804.My husband is descended from Benjamin. In 1814, Job Fancher enlisted in the 1st Regiment West Tennessee Militia to fight against the Creek Indians. He was sent to Fort Williams in what is now Alabama where he died on Sept. 3, 1814.
Rebecca Fryer Fancher remarried very quickly to Sion Pearson sometime in 1815.It appears that Sion Pearson died shortly thereafter or the marriage ended for some reason.I don't know if they had any children.
I didn't know about a third marriage to Charles Carter, Jr. until I came across your postings.I did know that around 1820, her son Benjamin Fancher left Tennessee to move to Bibb Co., Alabama with his two uncles, Richard and Samuel Fancher. There are several Fryers that moved to Bibb Co, AL about the same time. There is a Sarah Fryer that married Thomas Carleton in Bibb Co in Aug. 1816.Benjamin's uncle Richard Fancher gave permission for her to marry so they must be related somehow. There is a William Fryer who obtained land grants there in 1826.There is also an Abraham Fryer in land records there in the same timeframe.
Rebecca's fourth marriage was to Jacob Stipes. They were married sometime before Oct. 1830.I don't know if they had any children.
The basis of all of the this information is from affidavits that were filed in White Co., TN.I obtained a transcript of them from Paul B. Fancher who has done extensive research and published a book on the Fancher family. He has a photocopy of the original documents - but - the White County record book that they were found in are now lost.He got his copy from another Fancher researcher.
Here are the transcripts of the affadavits:

From the first affidavit, I suspect that Rebecca may have been trying to get a widow's pension from the US government.I'm going to check into that at the Archives.
None of this conflicts with the information you have posted.I'm guessing that your birthdate of 1786 for Rebecca is based on the 1850 census record for her and Jacob Stipes in Van Buren, TN.If that date is correct, she would be 16 when she married Job Fancher.Could you send me what information you have on Rebecca?I tried emailing you directly but it bounced back.Do you know of other children other that the 2 sons she had with Charles Carter?Do you know anything about the Sion Pearson that she married?Do you think Rebecca knew that Carter had a wife still living when she married him?
