Looking for: Virginia F Carter, James O Carter, Annie Carter Curley
Anyone who recognizes any of these 3 folks, please post or email me directly
Virginia F Carter born PrWm Co., VA abt 1844
James O. Carter born PrWmCo., VA abt 1848
Annie/ Anna /or Ann A Carter b. 1877 WashDC. married name "Curley"?
Their & my line is from -
William Pannill born abt 1765-1772 of Lancaster Virginia, married Nancy LYNN, is/was her maiden name...
Also, their son, Philip Carter born 15 April 1793 who married Sarah "Sallie" Tansill 10 April 1820 , they had 5 children, the oldest who was my great grandfather Harrison P. Carter born 24 Feb 1821 Prince William Co., Virginia.
Sarah "Sallie" TANSILL Carter's parents were William Tansill b 1755 in Dumfries VA - died 1812 Dumfries, Pr Wm Co., VA., and wife Susan "Suky" FOXWORTHY b. 1 Feb 1756 at OverWharton Parish, Stafforn Co. VA. died 1820 Faquier Co., VA.
Harrison P. Carter -son of Philip Carter and Sarah "Sallie" Tansill, had 3 wives of which he outlived all three, and these women bore him many children. His first wife, "Louisa" or Lucy - maiden name UNKNOWN,-died Pr William Co., VA, she had 2 children with him. I am currently hunting for the descedants of these 2 children. I would also love to find out Louisa or Lucy's maiden name! (prob impossible!)
They are: first child was Virginia F. Carter born abt 1844 and second child was James O. Carter born abt 1848. - died abt 1920 Washington, DC. Louisa (maiden nm UNKNOWN) Carter
died abt 1857 or so, and is buried in the Carter Family Cemetery located in what is now the Prince William National Forest Park in PrWm Co Virginia. Her husband is buried beside her there.
Of Harrison P Carter's 2nd wife (my bloodline GrGrandmother) Mary Elizabeth Petty, they had 5 children I know of, and 3 lived to adulthood. They were my grandfather Philip Thomas Carter born 13 Nov 1867 Pr William Co. VA, - died Wash., DC 1932. Then Margaret Carter born abt 1869 and Blanche Carter born abt April 1870.
Then Harrison P Carter's 3rd wife, Nancy Arrington of Pr WIlliam Co., had 1 child and then Nancy succumbed to tuberculosis in the spring of 1878, when their daughter Anna A. Carter born 18 Nov 1877 Wash., DC., was just a few months old. Nancy Arrington Carter is buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Washington, DC.
NOW, By chance, in the Glenwood cemetery records, I came across a notation next to the "plat" map and records, that one of the gravesites my great grandfather Harrison P. Carter had purchased there, was to be reserved (if she wanted it) for his daughter Annie Carter Curley - - so this gives me a married name for her, but I cannot track her further. She herself, is NOT buried there. The plot is empty. It was just "reserved" in case she desired ot be buried there. I cannot find any record of an Ann or Anne or Annie A. Carter Curley born Wash.DC in any Census records - - - so if anyone recognizes this lady, please post or contact me...
So I am hunting for descendants of
1)Virginia F Carter, born abt 1844 Pr William Co VA., to Harrison P Carter and Louisa 0r Lucy (???)
2) James O. Carter born abt 1848 Pr William Co VA to Harrison P Carter & Louisa or Lucy (???)
and descendants of
3) Annie A Carter born 18 Nov 1877 Wash., DC. to Harrison P Carter & 3rd wife Nancy Arrington who married a "Curley". The spelling of "Curley" may be incorrect, I dont know who wrote the pencil notation in the Plat map margin - if family or employee of Glenwood Cemetery so long ago...
Thank you so much, ~ Nancye
