Abilene Reporter News Abilene, Texas Sunday morning, February 23, 1941 Golden Anniversary (photo of the Carter couple) Taylor County residents for 37 years, Mr. and Mrs. WAYNE CARTER observed their gold wedding anniversary Sunday, Feb. 16, at their home near Ovalo. Both are native Tennesseans. He was born in Wayne County of that state, Feb. 5, 1870, and Mrs. Carter in Decatur County Oct. 30, 1869. They were married Feb. 15, 1891 and lived in Henderson County, Tennessee 10 years. Moving to Big Spring, Texas in 1901, they remained three years there three years and have been in Taylor County since. Children and their families present for the golden wedding celebration were: Mr. and Mrs. TURNER NEWBY and son BOBBY of Houston; Mr. and Mrs. BOYD CARTER and sons RAY and ALTON of Tuscola; Mr. and Mrs. JESS ALLEN and son WAYNE of Lawn; Mr. and Mrs. AMOS WALDEN and children JUARIE, WADE and LEROY of Tuscola, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. CARTER and children DONNIE BELL, WILLIAMS, MORRIS and JOE BILL of Lawn. Mr. and Mrs. TOM CARTER and family of Roswell, New Mexico and Mr. and Mrs. BUCK CARTER and daughter PATSY of Corpus Christi were unable to attend. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. E. L. GRANT of Lawn, Mrs. RAGA SMITH, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. COTTRELL, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. KNIGHT, and J. E. HURT, of Ovalo. Notify Administrator about this message?
