1900/Hunt Co.,Tx-RAND CARTER, "Paducah Ky" w/LYDIA ANN & 2 sons
Posted by: Sherry McClellan (ID *****4618) Date: February 14, 2008 at 06:13:07
  of 19367

1900 US Census - Hunt Co.,TX

RAND CARTER & wife: LYDIA ANN,
both early 20's
2 sons: TOM & WOLFORD-.."From Paducah,Ky."

In 1902..a dtr,
My Gmtr, MARY ALICE CARTER was born...
in LADONIA, FANNIN CO., TX.

In 1916, Mary Alice m:(WM)ANDREW COOK (b:Roxton,Delta,Tx.),
in Quanah, Hardeman Co., TX (out 287, near Wichita Falls)
He'd previously been married to Lela Mae McWMs,Hopkins Co.

Mary's dad, Rand, had died from a "bug bite"; leaving Lydia (Liddy) with small children. Lidy's next in a hh w/J.E. STORY, as his housekeeper, in a neighboring county, 1920.
In the John Story hh, there were his two disabled children from a SETTLES & HERREN union/s...and Lydia's 2 dtrs, MAZIE and MYRTLE (future Mrs SPARKS) and JOE CARTER, their bro., listed as "boarders".

I am guessing that (1/2 bros?)"Tom" had gone to the Army and
Wulford had been in Lydia's hh, per his draft papers, 1918.
Wofford married and lived in MARSHALL, HARRISON CO. ,TX., dying ca 1980. I can't seem to "fill in the blanks". My grandmother was sure that they'd been "from Paducah Ky". I'm thinking that Lydia was Rand's 2nd wife, as I believe that a few yrs back, I was able to find a census that I've lost, with Rand and the two boys in KY, 1900; maybe moving to TX the same year?

Andrew Cook's people had been in Delta Co., Red River Co., and then settled in Hopkins, Co., near Como; by the early 1900's. They were from NW MS.

The McWilliams, as well as some Brunsons, are buried in a cemetary near Como, Hopkins Co.,Tx; as well as several Cook family members & perhaps some McKNIGHTS..and Lela Mae McWms-Cook w/infant. Other Cook inlaws: McGARITY. I mention all these names, as I think some of the lines got criss/crossed.

The McWms took the surviving son, D.W. Cook & raised him.
Thanks for any help I can get, on these folks...especially finding my Great-Grandparents, Rand/Lydia's roots!

Thanks!~SAMcClellan
