1700s Halifax County, VA- Familial Relationships between prominent families
I'm seeking information regarding ties between the Barksdales and Townes relationships in Halifax County and surrounding areas of VA, and their direct relationships with the Carters.
Any close ties wtih the Theodorick Carters' (the Lucy Barksdale marriage below to Charles Carter not withstanding)or Powells of the county, would be of interest as well.Dudley Barksdale was listed as being associated with these families and the Greens (with whom I 'm also related), and I'd like to collect some data on his children, etc.I would also like to know if anyone can shed light as to which Richard Carter the one listed in the Stephan Townes will below, might he be.I have my own conclusions, but am anxious to see if anyone has a better suggestion as you've all researched this line much longer than I!
My ggg, Elizabeth A. Townes Jones, went so far as to name her only son, Barksdale Townes Jones. My research has yielded that there were several deeds of different kinds that associated various Barksdales', Carters' and Townes' together. Any leads would be greatly appreciated!
