Henry Carter - born 1818 (for Lance Carter)
I wrote to you on the Carter forum a few days ago, and I sent you a long email message privately that was returned. In the latter, I asked some questions of you.Today, I posted some great news on the Stamper forum. Here it is:(***Go to the end for another CARTER tidbit.)
Refer to message #261 for the original posting.
I wrote that I hadn't seen the Davidson Bible with my own eyes yet, but I found something wonderful in one of grandma's notebooks (circa 1960's).It's a transcription of the Bible pages! They must have been legible at some point!I don't believe this is her handwriting, but it's familiar:(It's not an exact duplication of the Bible because there are some abbreviations.) ***Note the correction to Nancy Stamper's birthdate that I wrote incorrectly in my first posting!

Also in one of my grandmother's notebooks was a census record for a Carter family. She doesn't identify what year, but there is a scribble up in the corner where she has subtracted 33 from 1850, so I'm guessing it was from the 1850 census.Since I wrote to you privately about the family story of Henry Carter associating more closely with the Carter families of Indiana than the Davidsons, I thought I'd include my grandma's notes.I hope they will offer a clue.
