Hey Richard...I kinda doubt the Samuel Carter who married Mary Lee is the same one you are looking for. But, here is what Folks Huxford had to say concerning this family...
Huxford Pioneers of Wiregrass Ga. Vol. 1 page 43 CARTER, Samuel 1796-1894
Samuel Carter, a son of Elijah Carter and first cousin to Capt. Jesse Carter (q.v.), was born January 13, 1796, in Colleton district, S.C., near the Barnwell district line.Elijah Carter lived to be 107 years old and died about 1875 in Barnwell district, S.C., where he lived.Samuel's sister, Rebecca, married Levi Drawdy, of Barnwell district, and moved to Lowndes county, also his brothers, Isaac, John and Elijah. All remvoed to Lowndes county at the same time (about 1829) that Samuel Carter came. They settled near the Alapaha River on the west side, and Samuel later bought land on the south side of Banks Pond where he had a large plantation and lived until his death Janyary 11, 1894, age 97 years, 11 months and 28 days.Samuel married Mary Lee, born 1796, in Barnwell district, S.C.She was a sister of Joshua and Jesse Lee, who also came to Georgia from Barnwell District, S.C. and lived in old Lowndes County. She died about 1865, and Samuel Carter later married a widow, Mrs. Nelson, of Berrien County, but there was no issue.Children of Samuel and Mary Carter were:

Mr. and Mrs. Carter were both baptized into membership of Union Primitive Baptist Church, Feb. 11, 1832.She died a member but he apperars to have been excluded (date not shown). Both were buried at Union Church.
Mr. Carter served in the War of 1812, also in the Indian War in 1838 as a private in Capt. Jesse Carter's company of Lowndes County militia.
