David, John Carter Sr., dec'd in 1811 in Greene Co., Tenn., had a son, James Carter, who moved to Jackson Co. Tenn. between 1799 and Sept 22, 1811, when he sold 10 acres of a 214 acre tract he purchased in Jackson County on September 10, 1810, to James Whitson Jr., his son-in-law(DBk 13, page 12). James Whitson Jr. married James Carter's daughter, Rebecca. He was a son of James Whitson and wife, Elizabeth, of Kingsville, Barren Co., Kentucky (from a letter dated in 1819). That was only a small portion of John Carter Sr.'s Estate that his son, Daniel Carter, Adm., sent to his brother, James Carter of Jackson County. Daniel could write his name but by 1811 perhaps he couldn't. He was born in 1758. He may have had arthritis in his hands. James Carter was born on January 1, 1768, the youngest son of John Carter Sr. James Carter died in Bonham, Fannin Co., Texas, one of only 46 Rev. War Soldiers buried in Texas.
