Carson's in the U.S.: W. Virginia and Michigan

I was curious about my family's history. My grandfather was born in W. Virginia and his family moved to Michigan when he was a boy. His name was Donald Carson, his brother was Cliff Carson and he went down with the U.S.S. Indianapolis during WWII. He also had a few sisters, but I am not too familiar with them, I know that there was a set of twin girls in his family. He was a carpenter and had 7 children with Carolyn (Pat) Sullivan: Linda, Amy, Mary Jo, Elyce, Katherine, Craig, and Tom. My father is Craig Thomas Carson. I would like to be able to trace my family back to Scotland or Northern Ireland.
