Hi Janice,
Catherine Carson was not Indian. She was born 15 Oct 1795 in TN (Washington or Greene Co) and died 01 Jul 1874 in GA (Gilmer or Fannin Co). She was a daughter of David Carson born c1760 Lancaster PA died c1828 Haywood NC and his wife Catherine born 1760s (my ancestors). Catherine Carson was Elijah's third wife. He divorced his first two wives. There is a bastardy bond in 1816 Haywood NC where Catherine did not name the father of her child (presumed by me to be Elijah Chastain). They married around 1817 in Haywood NC. Her sister Virginia Jane Carson married James Lafayette Chastin, Elijah's son by a prior marriage.
Catherine's mother Catherine is believed to have been last name Patterson or Owen (no proof yet). David and Catherine Carson's children were:

Mathew Carson born c1793 TN
Catherine Carson born 15 Oct 1795
Virginia Jane Carson born 12 Jun 1797

I descend from Samuel Carson who married Nancy Queen. I have some details on some of the siblings and their spouses and children
