James Carruthers /Lydia Roberts need help

I am trying to locate the parents of James Carruthers born about 1713. He married Lydia Roberts on December 6, 1733 in Cumberland Co New Jersey. I do have a copy of their marriage license and the information states that James was from Salem NJ and Lydia was from Cohansie NJ. Sad to say it did not list any parents. James Caruthers then dies on December 24, 1747 in Salem NJ without a will. I sent off for the probate papers only to find out that his wife Lydia gives up her right to administrator to Samuel Holms (Holmes). Once again no mention of parents. Do you by chance have any information on this James Carruthers? The notes and Queries Reflecting of Pennsylvania states that Richard Carruthers is the son of James and Lydia Carruthers. Richard Carruthers born December 23,1740 died September 2, 1790 was married two times first to Philanah Mills born February 25, 1749 and died April 20, 1777 he then married Mary Ewing born April 26, 1753 and she died November 12,1825.
Thank you for your time,
Dana Caruthers Norton
