Hello Jim,
Read the thread from John, interesting as my ggggmother
was a Beard from Ireland. d/o John Beard, about 1742.
Family was related to Moody and Hamilton.

I have another person I am looking for.
James Carruthers who reportly came from Scotland about
late 1690's to early 1700's. Landed in Philadelphia, PA.
Lived in a Quaker area in Bucks Co.,, PA. Worked as a
miller and married a Quaker in 1733.
Q, did he come to escape famine or was he transported?

Any help where to look? I am planning to look in PA soon.

Regards,
Richard Crothers
