Hi All
David Carruthers, born Moffat, Scotland, 14th Sept 1834, married 1st Jean Gemmel & 2nd Margaret Sutherland. He was a sugar planter at Houston plantation in Demerara Guyana.
He had six recorded children all born Demerara.
1) Elizabeth Jane,(Bessie)b. abt 1864 who married Herbert Borat on 15th Oct 1890, St. Lukes Church. Died circa 1901
2) Samuel James, who died Aug 17th 1938 Sydney N.S.W.
3) David Allan who married Nora Jack, 1895 at St Peter's Edinburgh, Scotland
4) Beatrice Agnes marr. 1st Daniel Forbes & 2nd W.J.Miller
5) Margaret who married Cecil Andrews
6) William, born 1887 married ....Bruce
The aforementioned David Allan Carruthers and Nora Jack had two known children (1) David Graeme b. 14th March 1905 & (2)Mary Elizabeth, born 12th Oct 1903.
David Graeme married in 1935 Mary Cunningham Brown. They had a son David, born 1939
It is beieved that in 1945, David Graeme was an Inspector of Police in Accra, Ghana.
