Looking for info on Samuel Carruthers, born in Glasgow, Scotland. His estimated birth would be 1850 as his son James was born in 1878. Samuel and wife, Margaret Nickles had 3 other sons and three daughters.
It is possible Samuel emigrated to US around age 9, settling in Hartford, VT. He also returned to Scotland to attend University of Edinburgh. Settled in Phila, PA upon his return to US I believe he was married in PA and all of his children were born there, possibly Phila.
Would appreciate any information.
