Mary Elizabeth Carroll Knight

There seems to be some confusion in our family tree. My great great grandmother Queen Basheba Knight supposedly had three daughters and one son according to my research. Dianah, Mary E., Henry, and my great grandmother Charlotte/Charloote. My great aunt Mary Elizabeth was born circa 1839 in Berrien Ga. to Queen Basheba Knight. She then married someone by the name of William J Lamb.

In the census records it shows Mary and her family living with her sister Charlotte Wilkinson, her husband Morris and their two kids. I recently found records that state Mary's name was Carroll before she was a knight and lists her as white. I'm totally confused can someone please help me clear this mystery up. Thanks
