Hello Dave,
Read your message and decided to see if I could help.
I found your Castle's in the census back to 1841.
I think it's most likely that Richard,born 1838, was the son of Hannah.
I believe I found Hannah in the 1841+1851 and 1861 census.
You probably have this information already.
It would be worth your while to visit the FHL/LDS and view the Parish record of his birth entry.
Microfilm No. 1041202.
Records for:Church of England.Parish Church of Basingstoke,England. The records for Basingstoke BMD's go back several hundred years.
