Hi Marion,
There are two men named William Carroll who applied for pension through North Carolina.Through Heritage Quest I have printed both and studied them.I am concerned that the last three pages for William Carroll of Roane County (#12.237) really belong with the other William Carroll (W6640) which lists Keziah as his wife on the second page of the pension application. Then there are pages requesting pension for the widow listing the children - Nancy Drover, etc.The William with the shorter pension application doesn't give a wife's name at the beginning so I assume she is deceased by 1832/33.I don't know how the Archives handles questions about these documents.Should really find out!
Several descendants of John and James who moved to Clay County, Missouri, in 1820 have been working on this "brick wall" for a long time.Luke Carroll of Roane County had a son Alfred (perhaps our earlier source misunderstood Alfred/Albert) so we are presently trying to find a connection to Luke - cousins??
Thank you for taking the time to read the pension and sending the message.
Elaine
