Anna Ella Carroll

During this Lincoln bicentennial year, Carroll family members will be hard pressed to hear about their relative, Anna Ella Carroll, who was a political/legal advisor to Lincoln and a military secret agent to boot. In late November 1861, Carroll submitted to Lincoln a plan for the Tennessee River campaign of the Civil War for which most historians have almost solely credited Ulysses S. Grant. You can read my whole Tennessee River chapter online at www.nymas.org and my biography of Carroll, Great Necessities, is available through Xlibris Corp. (xlibris.com/1-888-795-4274, Book No. 20452)
