I have found more information

John Carroll Receiced a land grant for service in the Army of William, Prince of Orange. (The land grant was located in the district of Wilson and Bullocks Creeks and on the little Catawba River in York Co., S.C.) His son Joseph (born in Tyrone County, Ireland in 1699) came to America and settled first in Chester County Pennsylvania in 1729. He is known to have had Three sons who served in the Army of General Sumpter in South Carolina in the years 1779, 1780 and 1781. They are Samuel, Thomas and Joseph.
