Sampson Carroll born abt. 1818 in NC

Sampson Carroll married Millie Hocutt on 3 Oct 1841 in Newton Co., GA. and in 1850 census they were still in Newton Co. with four children: Frances (M) b.1843, John b. 1844, Alonzo b. 1846, and Selestia (Celeste) b. 1850. In 1870, the family was in Gwinnett Co., GA with three more children: Early Jim b. 1853, Rebecca b. 1855, Sarah b. 1861. Sampson served in the 2nd GA Reserves for the Confederacy. (He was not the Sampson associated with the Drury Carroll line who served with the Union.)

Early Jim was my ggrandfather. I have been unable to locate Sampson's parents or where they originated. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Faye Cook Wisenbaker
